On most carpets, this appears to be the least effective method. Carpet shampooing entails applying specially formulated detergents directly to the carpet, followed by professional carpet cleaners agitating the cleanser with a machine. The cleaner will then be extracted with a vacuum, leaving the carpet looking spotless. The detergents are designed to make the carpet look bright and smell pleasant. However, it does little to remove caked-on dirt from the carpet’s pad.

So, if the primary goal of a carpet cleaning for a home is to make it look nice, perhaps for a special occasion where there will be a lot of people walking around and the carpet will need to be cleaned again anyway, shampooing may be the best option. However, it is rarely the first choice when it comes to health and wellness.

Dry cleaning:

The carpet steam cleaning method is preferred by the majority of people. It is certainly beneficial because there is little to no downtime because the carpet will not need to dry for as long as other methods require. The process is usually completed by using a special cleaning powder. It’s strewn across the carpet, and it’ll start attracting dirt right away. It is sucked up by a vacuum after it has stayed on the carpet for an appropriate amount of time to absorb, leaving the carpet almost as good as new.

Several carpet cleaning companies have tweaked this method by using different cleansers, such as oxygenated cleaners. This method also works well because, while the carpet is only wet for a short time, the oxygenated bubbles help lift dirt out of the carpet’s base, allowing it to be cleaned even more effectively.

Foam cleaning:

This is another effective method. It essentially combines a small amount of the shampoo method with the dry cleaning method. The carpet is cleaned with cleaning foam and a small amount of water. Like the powder in a dry cleaning method, the cleaning foam is designed to attract dirt, dust, and harmful fibers. Due to the nature of the foam and the vacuum, this method works best on tougher carpets.

Steam cleaning:

Carpet steam cleaning is one of the most well-known and widely used cleaning methods. It does have some drawbacks, however, in that it consumes a lot of water. When water soaks deep into the carpet pad, it can cause so much damage that the carpet may need to be replaced. Steam cleaning, on the other hand, can be effective if done correctly and not too frequently.

It’s also known as “Hot water extraction,” and it works by injecting a hot water and cleanser solution deep into the carpet with a powerful machine. The cleanser will then be extracted by the machine using powerful suction. All of this will likely remove the most dirt from the carpet, but it may cause damage to the carpet over time. It also means that the carpet will be wet for a long time, so don’t use this method as a quick fix because it isn’t.

Bonnet cleaning:

Due to the amount of carpet in commercial buildings, this method is mostly used for them. It is not intended to be extremely effective, given the high volume of traffic that commercial buildings already experience. In general, this method will keep the carpets looking fresh and clean, even if some dirt and dust remain beneath the surface. As a result, it’s clear that not all carpet steam cleaning techniques are created equal. Now that you’ve seen how the various methods work, it’s time to decide which one will work best in your own home. Choose wisely, as different methods will have different effects on different types of carpet.
